A Preventive exam includes a physical exam and lab studies and in some cases, an electrocardiogram, (EKG).
The tests typically include a complete blood count (CBC), Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP), thyroid test (TSH), urinalysis, lipid panel and a vitamin D level. Also a prostate specific antigen (PSA) and EKG and may be done based on your age, family & personal history, and gender. Be sure to check with your insurance to determine your level of coverage for these services prior to scheduling your preventive exam.
The Preventive exam does not include evaluation and management of new or existing problems. If either a new problem or a chronic condition requires evaluation and management services (E & M) there will be an additional charge which may result in your being responsible for a co-pay, deductible, etc. Please check with your health plan for coverage of any additional E & M services provided during a preventative exam.
