What is an OB/GYN Hospitalist?
OB/GYN Hospitalists are hospital-based Physicians who focus on providing comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care services to hospitalized patients.
Virginia Hospital Center has successfully implemented a hospitalist program since 2007. If you are admitted, your OB/GYN hospitalist will work closely with your primary care doctor and your OB/GYN physician during your inpatient stay.
Our hospitalists are board-certified internal medicine doctors who see you when you are admitted, care for your needs and coordinate your care with your primary care physician (PCP) after discharge. While your PCP may not see you while you are in the hospital, your hospitalist will keep them well informed of your progress.
The hospitalist program is an excellent addition to the health services provided by Virginia Hospital Center and advances our mission to provide you with excellent and safe care when you need it most.
Patients of VHC will have access to an OB/GYN Hospitalist 24 hours a day. Hospitalists are familiar with all aspects of the hospital and its staff and can answer questions and address any concerns.
Continuity of Care
While you are hospitalized, Hospitalists work with all the Physicians on your medical team to coordinate and improve the efficiency of your care and decrease the amount of time you stay in the hospital.
Communication with your OB/GYN Physician
Your OB/GYN is the one doctor who knows everything about your health. If admitted to the Hospital, our OB/GYN Hospitalists will communicate directly with your OB/GYN to assure personalized, top-quality patient care.
