When to Visit Urgent Care

STEPS TO TAKE WHEN YOU NEED CARE RIGHT AWAY


Your First Phone Call Should Always Be To Your Virginia Hospital Center (VHC) Physician Group Care Team. Call 703.DIALVHC (342.5842).

Your VHC Physician Group care team has immediate access to your very important medical history and can give you information about your medically appropriate next steps that could include:

  • Scheduling a same-day or next-day appointment in the office
  • Receiving a referral to a specialist or another VHC Physician Group doctor or advanced practice provider
  • Visiting the Virginia Hospital Center Urgent Care or, if it is a life-threatening emergency, the VHC Emergency Room

  • Treats minor illnesses and injuries such as colds, cuts, fevers, sore throats and sprains
  • On-site X-rays (Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 7:00 pm; Saturday, Sunday & Holidays, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm)
  • Offers school/sports physicals
  • No appointment necessary
  • Walk-ins welcome

WHEN IT’S AN EMERGENCY


Call 911 or Visit the Virginia Hospital Center Emergency Room

The Emergency Room is meant for the following:

  • Severe chest pain or difficulty breathing
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Signs of stroke (vision loss, slurred speech, confusion)
  • Open or compound fractures, or joint separation
  • Serious head, neck or back injury
  • Acute (sudden, severe) abdominal

If you or a loved one is experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or find safe transportation to the Virginia Hospital Center Emergency Room or the closest Emergency Department.
