Bladder cancer is a very common malignancy that affects BOTH men and woman. One of the most common causes of bladder cancer is smoking and often the first sign that may indicate bladder cancer is seeing blood in the urine (hematuria) or having blood detected in your urine ona urinalysis. Dr’s Mordkin, Joel and Bernstein at Urology can evaluate you and determine if you have bladder cancer. The most common tests they will use to determine if you may have bladder cancer are a CT Scan and a cystoscopy.
With bladder cancer, the first line therapy is to surgically remove the tumor and allow for proper staging of the cancer. Once the doctors have effectively removed the tumor and the pathologists have provided a stage, further treatment is based on the stage of cancer.
