Sharon Swain is a Nurse Practitioner that joined Primary Care Old Town in 2016 with years of experience in primary health care.
She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia with a Master of Science in Nursing, before beginning her career as a Family Nurse Practitioner in Georgia. From 2001 to 2003, she also taught graduate students as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nursing at Western Carolina University, while continuing to provide primary care services to patients in rural Georgia. In 2004, Sharon began work as a Foreign Service Nurse Practitioner for the U.S. Department of State in the Office of Medical Services. Her work with the State Department brought her around the globe, where she provided health care services to American Diplomats, coordinated emergency medical response, and served as a health clinic manager. Sharon returned to DC in 2014, where she worked at the Geriatric Clinic of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center since, caring for elderly patients with multiple chronic diseases.
Sharon’s extensive experience in treating many different diverse patient populations and her commitment to excellence in clinical care make her a strong asset to the medical team at Primary Care Old Town.
