Saira Mir, MD received her bachelor’s degree from University of West Florida in 2005 where she graduated summa cum laude. She went on to receive her medical degree at Florida State University in 2010. As a medical student she fell in love with the field of obstetrics. Her passion was recognized by the Florida Obstetrics and Gynecology Society Award for Greatest Promise in the Field of OB/GYN. Her training continued at Emory University in Atlanta, where she gained extensive experience in preventive, surgical and high-acuity care. She graduated at the top of her class in 2014 with the highest score in national standardized testing and was honored with several awards including the most outstanding senior resident by her peers and faculty.
After residency, Dr. Mir joined Kaiser Permanente in Washington DC. She enjoyed providing care for women in Capitol Hill for three years, before joining the VHC Physician Group – OB/GYN in the fall of 2017. As a practitioner, Dr. Mir uses an evidence-based and collaborative approach to patient care that relies on strong communication. As a female physician and mother, she values the needs and concerns of her patients. She has a particular clinical interest in contraception counseling, well women care, adolescent gynecology, and minimally invasive surgery.
Dr. Mir is a member of American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and she is currently accepting new patients.
Outside of work, Dr. Mir enjoys crafts, reading, traveling, writing, and spending time with her husband and two children. While on maternity leave, she wrote a children’s book on female empowerment that is slated for publication in 2019.
