Dr. Lynsey Owen grew up in Maryland and attended Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where she studied biology and English and captained the college’s women’s lacrosse team. Dr. Owen then attended Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. She moved to Boston to complete her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. During her time there, she had an academic appointment as a clinical fellow at Harvard Medical School and received multiple teaching and research awards.
After graduating from residency, Dr. Owen transitioned to active duty status in the Air Force and was stationed at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. She separated from the military in 2015 and has been at Virginia Hospital Center since that time. Dr. Owen is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists.
Her professional interests include comprehensive obstetric care, adolescent gynecology, and contraceptive consultation, but her favorite part of the job is the wonderful long-term relationships she cultivates with her patients. She is a regular contributor to You and Your Family; her articles can be found in the print magazine and online. Outside of work, Dr. Owen enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, playing with her boxer dog, running, and reading for pleasure.
